Should
Children use Cell phones?
What about
children using wireless
phones? The scientific
evidence does not show
a danger to users of wireless
phones, including children
and teenagers. If you
want to take steps to
lower exposure to radiofrequency
energy (RF), the measures
described above would
apply to children and
teenagers using wireless
phones. Reducing the time
of wireless phone use
and increasing the distance
between the user and the
RF source will reduce
RF exposure.
Some groups sponsored
by other national governments
have advised that children
be discouraged from using
wireless phones at all.
For example, the government
in the United Kingdom
distributed leaflets containing
such a recommendation
in December 2000. They
noted that no evidence
exists that using a wireless
phone causes brain tumors
or other ill effects.
Their recommendation to
limit wireless phone use
by children was strictly
precautionary; it was
not based on scientific
evidence that any health
hazard exists.
Over the
course of the past decade
non-flip cells have attracted
more and more cellphone
users. Mobile phones with
built in digital cameras
and smart cell phones
have shown increased sales,
many will allow to wirelessly
connect to the Network.
Carriers offer pocket-sized
mobiles whose quality
and reliability has appealed
to more and more users.
Now, from
approximately 200 million
to nearly 1 billion worldwide
many cellphone operators
use most phones to stay
virtually connected to
friends, family, and other
people, exchange ordinary
emails, get sports and
weather, surf the new
network using WiFi phone
service, hear tunes, take
pictures, see wireless
pictures with good-size
screens, and more. Cellular
market consultants anticipate
handy, more compact CDMA
(code division multiple
access) new web-surfing
phones. Some will operationalize
Bluetooth enabled full
keypad, back-lit buttons,
cellular headset, and
screens with low light
capability. They also
predict more options for
a 2+ GB memory and a nanotech
battery for your cordless
digital phone.
In a couple
years, cell phone service
providers will further
increase features such
as the following -- voice-activated
calling, calendar function,
menu system, and video
display. Your choices
among regional plans to
select a advanced digital
phone and an integrated
service plan will increase.
There will be more ways
to select a nationwide
plan to communicate with
friends, relatives, and
others and get information
from mobile access.
